This work designed by Ron Fondaw was added to spruce up a downtown parking deck in 2007. The multicolored polycarbonate wheels and various automobile sculptures symbolize the importance of transportation to the city of Greensboro.
“This public artwork is located on the five story parking deck in down town Greensboro, NC. It is in three parts, 1.The 6′ x’6 designs along the upper most level, 2. The vac-U formed wheels on the three exposed sides of the garage and 3. The time line of the history of transportation formed in ceramic (1957 Chevy Nomad) along the low pedestrian retaining wall. The Wheels act as signage for this parking deck at night when they are lit from within the translucent wheels with LEDs. ”
