William Goodson Mangum studied at The Art Students League, The Corcoran and received an MFA from UNC-Chapel Hill. For many years he was a professor of Art history, Painting and Sculpting at both Western Carolina University and Salem College. It was at Salem College where he also served as Chairman of the Art Department.
