Rise Together Greensboro was a temporary community engagement project by artist Charlie Brouwer commissioned by The Public Art Endowment. Over 300 Greensboro participants worked together to create this sculpture in Downtown Greensboro. Residents lent over 500 ladders to the project, many of whom personalized or decorated their ladders, which were each then recorded and tagged. The completion of the monumental sculpture served as a kick-off event for the 2015 17Days Festival and the local debut of the National Folk Festival. By using hundreds of ladders from as many people and parts of the community as possible, the metaphor of a true community rising together was achieved.
